Triang. Clerestory Conversion
Hi All. I have three Triang Clerestory Coaches for conversion . But I have been sitting on my hands, numb fingers But today I received the latest DOGA journal, which featured a Triang Clerestory conversion , to a GCR non corridor stock, but, I do BR ( S ) or Southern etc. But this gives me some hope . The next thing I need to do is get hold of a roof or three and ventilators. Has anyone got any ideas please. Best wishes.KevinLast edit: by Passed Driver

Always minimise risks to both safety and ruining the workpiece. I covered this early on in my Clifton Downs project, shortly to be taken up again.

Those old Triang bodies are made from thick plastic, tough going with a small modeling saw. The Ratio bodies are much thinner. If you can find a piece of wood that is a tight fit inside the body and tape it in place the cuts will be straighter and cleaner. Mark very carefully, cut oversize and file to the line rather than try and cut exactly to the line.

You might also try 247 Developments, who manufacture white metal bogies for most major railways.

Most modeling mitres boxes are too shallow for anything but flat pieces or tubes and rods (or N-scale bodies). You will almost certainly need to eyeball the cut and follow the line for part of the way.
I will be doing a cut and shut of a Bachmann On30 passenger car next week, much too big for my mitre box, and thick plastic, which will bind the fine saws. I will post the bash.

Either they do them, or they don't. I know how easy it is to find GWR , bogies on the site.
You still need to fit bearings and wheel sets, but they come fully built, unlike white metal types.

Hattons have Bachmann Bulleid bogies if that is what you are looking for. Torpedo or shell ventilators were pretty similar across the different railways. Try Wizard Models.
