I  use a different brake van for each of my trains and like them all to be a little different from each other.

To start off with this was easy, when I only had enough rolling stock to make two or three trains, now with a slight increase in 'traffic' on Kingswood I have had to search around a little. Even with different numbers some of my Brake Vans look an awful lot alike, which in it's self is not a bad thing but I only have a small lay out and wanted each train to be quite different.

My latest Brake Van is a New Year days present from my Wife, Sue so I wanted this one to be very different.

Now Kingswood is very much under thread of being axed by Dr Oaking and Co however the local community, press and MP are mounting a strong campaign to keep it open to both passengers and freight.
With this in mind, the local MP The Right Horrible Casey Jones and Mr B. Y. Rahul, a tabloid news paper reporter from The Daily Express, have been spending a few days getting to know staff, passengers and traveling the line.
The final stage of this is seeing how important the goods in and out of the station are to the local economy so our intrepid duo have spent a day traveling around in the brake van of Alan Hall.

Here is how I have modelled them……….

Lucky for me Sue has been working all week. This enabled me to unwrap, weather then rewrap the Brake Van with out her knowing  :mrgreen:

First job this morning was to convert a figure into a guard, just a head swop and repaint and then to get the lamps together.

Next I removed the factory fitted couplings and put them back into the models box for safe storage.


 

 

I added the rear lamp by first scraping off the white paint around the area to be glued and then added a tiny drop of super glue to these areas.
Using tweezers I help the lamp in place until the glue set. Well actually I dropped the darn thing twice, stuck it to my fingers once, swore at it half a dozen times and almost throw it out of a window but my original version sounds so much more professional   I am sure that Guard is laughing at me in the first photo!

Any way, eventually I got it to stick in place.

Next up were the side lamps. I have a 1950's real one of these so always like to add them. I scraped off a little paint around the area to be joined and added a tiny drop of super glue to the side lamp bracket. I then held the lamp in place using tweezers until it was dry.


 

 

 

 

Now it was the relatively easy task of adding the figures. I wanted to create a mini scene with all three figs in the veranda at the rear of the brake van.
A tad fiddly getting the lads feet in place but certainly less boogley eye causing.

MP Casey Jones is deep in thought while Alan Hall is explaining just how vital his train is to Kingswood and other stations along the line (he is also very keen to keep his job)
Our brave roving reported, Mr Rahul is enjoying the view and mulling over the title of his piece……
