Well a few days ago i was really grumpy, moaning that i wanted to do my modules and other stuff, so my son and his girlfriend said they take me somewhere to relax me. Where did i go, somewhere i pass often and seen on the news but never stopped to look. Read on and enjoy the brief history and pics.

Now back in 1841 the London to Brighton line was opened and during this build they had to go through a large hill, thus Clayton Tunnel was created. This was built without any modern excavators or machines. This was another brilliant piece of engineering back then. Sadly in 1861 there was a terrible crash when a signal man made a mistake and 2 trains collided, crushing the wooden coaches and those not killed by the impact where scolded by the engine steam, 23 people died on that day. The house that is built directly above the tunnel allegedly has a ghost from the accident roaming the rooms. .
