Who makes these locos?

Talyllyn Railway plus a few others

So, I recently acquired Bachmann's model of Rheneas (fictional twin to the Talyllyn Railway's Dolgoch) and that's started my interest in acquiring more narrow gauge stuff (mostly building up the rest of the Skarloey Railway - primarily the book characters, not as interested in, say, Luke or Mighty Mac - and Mid Sodor Railway rosters). The Bachmann range is still very young, with currently only Skarloey (twin to Talyllyn) and Rheneas on offer and Rusty (twin to Midlander) coming soon, although I don't know if they'll keep him his TV size (an artifact of the model era where it was necessary to accommodate the eye mechanism) or make him Midlander's real size in-scale.
Anyway, what I'm after is a list of who makes kits for certain locos (also scale drawings, because I want to check if some of the Ertl shells I have would be of use; I might also get crazy/desperate enough to scratchbuild on some of these).
  • George England 0-4-0ST+T (Prince/Duke)*
  • Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class (Edward Thomas/Peter Sam)*
  • Hughes-Falcon 0-4-0/0-4-2ST (Sir Haydn/Sir Handel. Also Albert, a character exclusive to the Rev's model railway though he technically got a passing mention. Would like to know about kits for both Talyllyn and Corris condition)*
  • Andrew Barclay 0-4-0WT (Douglas/Duncan)*
  • Ruston & Hornsby 0-4-0 diesel (Midlander/Rusty)*
  • Tom Rolt
  • Fletcher Jennings C class (Talyllyn/Skarloey. This one where I'm mainly interested in a drawing or source thereof, to see if adapting the Ertl toy's shell is viable)*
  • Rebuilt Hunslet 0-4-0 diesel-mechanical (Alf/Fred)
  • Baldwin 2-6-2PT or 4-6-0PT (Book and Awdry's MSR layout-only character  called Stanley, a cut-down Baldwin pannier tank reduced to pumping  engine because he was incurably derailment-prone)
  • Decauville Type 1 (More Awdry layout exclusives, Atlas and Alfred. For an example of a real member of this class, look at "Bathala").
  • Fletcher Jennings Bb (Dolgoch/Rheneas. VERY low priority since I already have Rheneas. I'd only want another Bb class for the sake of duplicating Jennings, another character who only really existed on Awdry's MSR layout, and in a pinch I could use Rheneas as a scratchbuilding reference).
* The Ertl toy's shell is possibly viable

Wow, that's quite a list you have there Brendan!

Have you absolutely exhaustively searched the net and drawn blanks on all those locos? Excepting the last one presumably.

One of the many joys of model railways is essential research,  so don't deprive yourself  of the satisfaction of fascinating detective  work by letting everyone else have all the fun.

You may be amazed at the things you find along the way, once you  get going. I learn so much when tracking down prototype and modeling  details, which I'm happy to pass on to others.

Hattons are just bringing out a r-t-r Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 ST, but I'm not aware of a well tank, r-t-r or kit, so perhaps the Hornby 0-4-0 Pug, in one of its many forms could provide the basis for a cheap conversion.

I expect you may have seen http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Douglas_(narrow_gauge)

Good luck and have fun,

Bill

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Yes, I have seen that page, and others. I did mention the Talyllyn Railway's Douglas by name next to Andrew Barclay 0-4-0WT in my list after all (though I realize that most kits of such would be labeled as "Douglas" kits). From past and current research (including the TR's own list), I know that GEM makes kits for Dolgoch, Douglas, and for Baldwin 4-6-0 PTs, Chivers makes Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas, Meridian makes Talyllyn, Midlander, and Corris-condition Edward Thomas, Rodney Stenning makes Corris-condition Sir Haydn, and Langley makes Prince. That is all I've found out so far. I have no idea yet if that's everyone who makes them, though, so I decided to drop a line here in case anyone more knowledgeable could fill me in and speed up the research.

What I've definitely been drawing blanks on so far, is finding drawings for Prince that I can check the Ertl toy's measurements against to see if I can just adapt that or whether that's out. I'll keep looking, of course.
