I do find this software tricky to use though. It's obviously something I'm not doing right, but I find it almost impossible to get, for example, two sets of points to join together to form a crossover. Curves always want to join to other sections of track at the wrong end or are curving the wrong way. I'm getting a little frustrated with the software because it is taking me far too long to get a track plan idea set out.
I would be happy to try different software, but only if it's another freebie. I can't justify the cost of purchasing something I will probably use only once or twice. Whatever I use, it needs to be able to deal with Peco tackwork.
Any ideas or tips, please guys?

To get a point to make a cross-over, first draw the line in which it is to be placed and then a line parallel to it by pressing the 'Create Parallel Track' button on the top line. Look at the lower left of the screen and you'll see 'Separation', usually set to 2". To alter it, left click and hold, swipe and re-type your chosen distance.
Now place the cursor close to the first line and left click, a parallel line should appear.
Insert a turnout into the first line where you want it. You can fiddle with angle/left/right etc by right mouse button. When it has 'stuck' where you want it, hit return and then press 'esc' or you will do little turnouts all over the screen.
Now extend the diverging track of the turn out a little over the parallel line by selecting 'Modify or extend a track' and left dragging it.
Release left button.
Select the appropriate turnout and hover it over the place where the extended line crosses the parallel line. It will 'stick' in the right place. Again, hit return and then esc and the spare little bit of track should disappear!
I hope that helps,
Doug
