Highly recommended

I used Bromsgrove for the first time this week and i can only say excellant service, speedy delivery and good process communication.

Many thanks John

This is part of my new years intention to use suppliers who support YMR, so i can tick the list for Kernow, Bromsgrove and Scalescenes (still).

Regards

Pete

Yes it's a really good thing that we have retailers on the forum that everyone can trust and who supply an excellent service.

I have been meaning to try Bromsgrove Models for some time but either  I have not needed anything from their website or I have sourced it from my usual supplier .

I know several people who have been pleased with the service provided. I heard talk of the owners possibly retiring. If thats true it will be a sad loss to the hobby and I hope its not before I get a chance to be one orf their customers.

I think it is because Bachmann require a regular walk-in shop, not just an Internet shop.

Ah but Chris does so we are covered every which way for the big manufacturers and many of the smaller ones, not to mention the electrical side.

Well, 'TrainsonTime' is only a garage with stuff just dumped in it… but they sell Bachmann and is an Internet seller! also a very good  postage service.

Also an excellent service to personal callers from" Trainsontime". Very helpful and obliging. I asked if they had plans to move to a shop and they are looking, but the problem is security. Those who have been there will know it is an industrial unit with the associated security, yet they have still been broken into.

Agree Allan…. excellent service.

Used them many a time and the speed you get the stuff from Paisley to OZ makes you wonder what Hattons and Rails are doing?

I agree "Trains on Time "  always live up to their name .

Not a firm you hear much about but very efficient when I have used them.

Unfortunately they will not  supply to the USA or Canada. Due to "Insurance reasons" - are we really that bad?

Best, Pete.

I have had that problem with some stuff out of the US.  If you let me know what you want I can pass it on.  That's what was done for me by another member of this forum who is US based.

The problem I canot see an answer to with the US is shipping costs. There have beens several things I would like to have purchased  lately but the shipping costs have doubled or even trebled the original purchase price makiing it uneconomic.

I was looking for a Bachmann Hershey Streetcar - its no longer available in UK and doesnt appear to be anywhere else in the word except for a few US retailers that have the odd one left in stock. Purchase prices were quite reasonable for something thats not around in big numbers but when you added shipping and all the other costs it just put obtaining one way out of my reach as I could not justify  that sort of expense.

Shipping costs isn't a reason for me because once the VAT is dropped off for non-EU sales it tends to cover that and then some (eg Hattons).

Also if something gets lost or damaged Hattons appear to be able to claim it back from the Royal Mail (at least that is what one of their CS types explained to me). So I cannot understand the issue with Bromsgrove.

Of course it is up to them whether they wish to deal with the USA and Canada, I only mention them because they are listed here as "Trusted UK Suppliers" to YMR - yet  they preclude some members here from purchasing from them……….they may have had a bad experience with some idiot over here.

Best, Pete.

No issue with "idiots" specifically!  The issue is insurance costs brought about by the litigous nature of US society, which would have pushed our insurance premium up by more than 50%.  As we didn't previously have much business with North America I couldn't justify the additional costs.  We only just managed to persuade the company that folks in Asia and Australasia wouldn't take us to court on the slightest whim!!

Very interesting, thanks,  John.
That may have been true several years ago but when my cousin in London tells me that he cannot clear snow from his sidewalk out front  in case someone sues him then I think the USA sounds more and more sensible!

Best, Pete
