Look at the prices:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-BACHMANN-ROBINSON-04-BR-BLACK-L-CREST-WEATHERED-/390310908898?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Railways&hash=item5ae057d3e2

$155

31-001Z

Robinson ROD Class O4 2-8-0 63743 (shed 9G) in BR black with late crest (weathered). Ltd Edition of 512

More than 10 in stock.

A Robinson 04 in BR late crest livery with weathering. Only 512 of these will be produced and will be exclusive to Hattons.
£145

Is there a miss print in the prices because the same Loco is far dearer in the UK than in OZ? That's £50 more from Hattons?

Well I ordered the one from OZ (as ya do) :pathead

They appear to be

Hattons could be offloading them discreetly because in addition to their 145 UKP "Exclusive Limited Edition" they are offering another 2-8-0 (identical except Number) for 100 UKP

I think Chris of Kernow Models used to write about this sort of problem for retailers who commission a limited edition and then the Mfr replicates it with a general release

I reckon the guy in Australia has boobed !!  I doubt he could have shipped that loco from China and sold it at that price compared with what Hattons are charging.

Even at £100 for the non limited edition John, it's only just about the same price as the one on e-bay in Oz.  I presume they are both brand new :roll:

He may well have made an error……but if you blow up one of the thumbnails on Ebay it actually says "made exclusivly for Hattons"

Another option is that there is a design/detail flaw and it got rejected at the factory………a few years ago you could buy Bachmann GWR Pannier Tank Bodies on Ebay for about $20………….they had put an incorrect number on!

Actually John, at today's rate £100 sterling equates with $153 Aus. so his $145 Aus. is an even better deal.

Maybe they are factory "seconds" but I'm surprised Bachmann would risk their name by releasing them onto the market unless they made loads of them, as they probably did with the pannier body,  and can't afford to bin them.

Maybe Black Cat will let us know when his arrives.

Maybe they are not moving as fast as first thought.  Although not weathered, Chris has a similar model on sale for £89.95…

equates to $136, different number and not weathered + postage -VAT would be about the same price as the one I'm getting from West-OZ.

One of the rare occasions that one of our shops can compete with overseas shops.  Nice to see.  :thumbs

Next time I want something I might run it past you, Warren.  You seem to have the knack of finding these.  :cool wink
