First photo is the main road through my OO scale Swanhurst layout, and shows an early fog lifting. The fog hides all sorts of problems
Next one shows two Maine Central locos, HO scale.
The fog, sky and bluish haze were all added with the airbrush in Paintshop Pro, varying the colour, size and opacity.
Anybody got any more 'enhanced' photos to share?

I certainly did, Bob - I looked at the photos for a few minutes each and could almost smell the dampness of the morning. Brilliant effects :!: :!: :!:Robert said
Did you notice Tim that even the street, roadway and the car seems to have the morning damp on them.

From the first day of making the layout I wanted a just-rained look. The wet road effect is varnish rubbed on thinly. I have to renew it occasionally. Brushing and rubbing it on is a tad more controlled than the way I started out when I sprayed dilute acrylic varnish over everything :!: :!: using a misting spray bottle suitable for ferns and orchids. It rained for about a minute. That was maybe a little reckless I wound up with varnished rails, shiny sleepers and some weird streaks down walls and on my rollingstock. It was fun though  Thankfully I had the presence of mind to shield the turnouts. Most of it has worn off now, or is covered with dust.

With the airbrush in PSP you have great control over opacity, size, density, colour, hardness etc so it's very versatile in that way. You can also clone parts of the picture e.g. in the Maine Central pic I cloned nearby ballast over the little handles on the Peco turnout to hide them.
I also darkened the distracting spot of light that fell on the lens thus obscuring the coupling on the yellow RS11.
There are many things you can do with the program including adjusting the colour balance. I don't remember doing that to these photos because my camera can be used in the same way [ Ilike to add some blue into the image to get a better outdoor look]
Of course the photos were cropped and the street scene was lightened. I may have reduced the contrast just a touch too. I can't remember.
I reckon versions seven and onwards are very helpful, and a lot of fun to play with. They also have unlimited undo
