Hello chaps and chappeses!

This little loco, a Midland 1P 0-4-4 hasn't been on Combwich my SDJR branchline terminus for around 5 years (it was in the workshops down the road having some chassis work done on it).

These pics were simply taken with the camera (a little Canon G9) resting on a small bean bag, the shutter being fired with the self timer. The lighting is the layout's own 100 watt bulbs. To block the view of my tatty garage ceiling, I superimposed some extra sky along with some fake clag!

Wow, fantastic layout in every way and brilliant photographs.  The use of a timer is not something I have tried.  I would love to see more details of your layout plus a trackplan.  If I am not mistaken it looks like you have an Airfix/Dapol Engine shed in the background, which has been put togther very well.  I would like to see how you have done this too.  Finally, what stage has your layout reached?  Is it completed or are you still working on other parts?

Thanks for showing these pictures

Lovely photos, Chris, all of them.  The trees and long trackside grasses in the 4th pic are a delight! And the crossing is very good and neat.

Chris, I found your own site last year and immediately put it in my "favourites" as I thought your modelling was marvellous; these new pictures verify that and more!

Really nice photos of your Combwich layout

Superb work it will give a lot of people inspiration to and improve their skills.

Chris most of your layouts look like exhibition style portable layouts.

Do you have your own stay at home layout or do you just purely build the portable types?

cheers Brian.W

I've been told that Chris (still lots more years until he reaches 50) is not going to do any more photos after he reaches 100 years of age, so your request is out, Sam :!:  :!:

To be serious for a moment, Chris, I have only one criticism of you work   ….   there's not enough of it on this forum :!:  :!:
Never mind, I'll have to continue with my regular visits to you superb web site.
Thanks for posting these shots, as always superb and as always leaving us all wanting more details.

I don't get the first one either but the rest are superb Chris.  Obviously my eyes aren't up to taking such quality pictures - Novice commented on an Airfix/Dapol engine shed - I can't even see an engine shed let alone whose kit it is !!!!!

Let's see more of your work please Chris.

There we go, I wasn't happy with the transition between the large tree and the sky.

Much of this layout dates from 1980-82, the signalbox, station buildings and track going back to that time.

The layout went into storage from 1985-2000. From 2000 all the scenery was remade along with a new goods shed, crossing keeper's cottage, level crossing Airfix shed and wharf. In 2002 the baseboard was widened by 9 inches to allow for the rhyne along the front.

Here are some more…….
