A couple of short vids of my sound locos

I uploded two vids to YouTube last night.  I have no idea how people manage to upload whole films - these short vids took in excess of 10 hours to upload :shock::shock::shock:  I just left them uploading through the night.

The two locos were chipped for me by Max (MaxSouthOz).

The GP40 has a fantastic "Quantum" chip and, on start up, you hear the air vent shutters slamming open, the driver climbing into the cab and the engine starting up.  There is a "turbo" effect suggesting the loco setting off very slowly with a very heavy load although, as the video shows, I still have to learn how to use this function properly - it suddenly leaps off when I disengage the turbo ……………..  When shutting down, the air vents clatter closed, air tanks hiss, the engine shuts down and the driver leaves the cab - all automatically done by a double click on one button.

The Class 47, on speed step 1, is a little too fast and the engine a little too loud.  Although Max has given me instruction on how to adjust these, I don't want to "mess" and risk spoiling the overall effect until I feel a little more confident.

I hope you enjoy them - the usual "I have no connection with Max other than being an extremely satisfied customer" applies………………..:roll::roll::cheers:cheers

Thanks Max and yes, it's fantastic fun. :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs

A steamer will be on it's way to you very shortly (if that's still OK)  - coal shovels and slip-chuffs spring to mind - all wonderful stuff…………………..:roll::roll:

The videos are great Peter.......you have almost tempted me to think yet again about sound! You have a very eclectic collection of rolling stock......the challenge will be to combine them all in one video......including the Tube, Tramway and of course steam:lol::cheers

It's called "Modellers licence" John ……………

Sound is great although it can get confusing if one has too many running at once …….(and a very small brain):roll::roll:

Thanks Nick. :thumbs

I don't really have a favourite because they're really so different.  I think I prefer the engine sound on the Class 47 - more of a "heavy rumble"- whereas the GP40 has a turbine whine.  Probably like comparing a jet engine to a prop engine on an aircraft.  Give me a Rolls Merlin any day ………..:thumbs

Having said that, the start up and shut down sequence "plumbed" into the GP 40  is pure magic as is the "turbo boost" effect.

I'm sure the upload problem is because here, we only have a 500kbs connection speed …………  I ought to have gone over to our gite 10 miles away where we have around 4 or 5 meg. (Actually, I might try that next time :hmm)
