Having just spent a harrowing three-and-a-half hours this morning trying to sort out my computer after a failure overnight, I would urge you all to make sure you back-up all those photos and other files that you want to keep for future reference.

I ended up one step away from having to reformat my hard-drive, which would have meant that all my files would have been wiped out. I had backed up most of them, but not all.  :(  It's so easy to put it off until tomorrow, but by then it can be too late.

I got away with it this time, but who knows what will happen in the future?

BACK-UP, and DO IT TODAY!

This cannot be emphasised strongly enough. Backup programs are cheap, even free, if cheap is too much. Yours truly uses free of course, what else. You don't actually have to do amnything as they can be made to back up automatically as your computer shuts, down, starts up or anywhere in between. It is preferable to have a separate drive for your backup else if the C/ drive goes wonky and that's where your backup is then it's not going to do you much good.

Another option is to do an online backup.
I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I've used Mozy in the past. Currently I'm using a business solution at some other provider of a service like this, and it saves me a lot of worries!
