I switched on my laptop? No Good
Hi All. I do not know if this subject has been touched on, or if anyone can advise me. But when I turned on my laptop there was not a wi fi connection, so I plugged it into the " Ethernet Cable" still nothing. Off to John Lewis, Oxford St. Where I was told that it was the "Wi Fi Card"?. The computer is just over two years old and the warranty has expired. The Geek(for want of a better word) said"No we cannot do nothing with it, take it to a private dealler, but it might not be worth fixing" To which I replied "I may as well throw it away then. He was not very helpful. all the best. Kevin

Even if it is "the Card" you could easily buy a usb Wifi unit and plug it in and they are peanuts. Just go on Amazon and type in " USB WiFi "and hundreds of them show up, for less than a tenner, some less than 3 quid!!

Hi All Its me again, thanks to an old schoolmate of mine, I now have a fully functioning laptop. So much for the expert at John Lewis who had said that "I may as well buy a new Laptop" or go to Currys PCWorld to get it repaired, Wi Fi card indeed, a few minutes updating, and it works fine, and all down to it being my shout forHi All. I do not know if this subject has been touched on, or if anyone can advise me. All the best,
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Took my laptop in once as it was playing up where PC World sent it away for a week only after which to tell me that my hard drive was knackered and I would need a new one fitted at a 100 quid plus vat, plus new hard drive, plus rip off fee, plus drinks all round.
Told 'em not to bother as I'll sort it myself where I was informed by a most uninterested moron behind the customer information desk that it'll still be a 100 quid plus vat, plus rip off fee, plus drinks all round or we won't let you have it back.
Since they've amalgamated with Curry's they're even worse where I bought a memory stick once and when I asked a salesman how do I make it work ( PC World JUST love me ) he just said "Plug it in your computer mate " then walked off as if I hadn't even asked..
Allan.
