Infill panels look bland/ need more realism

Hi All                   Here I am again, running before I can walk, and I have been considering the Wills Brick Retaining Arches.IMHO the infill panels (unless you are an artist) look rather bland, and I have been looking around trying to find suitable Workshop doors that will enhance the arches. I saw a Wills goods shed kit on line which seems to have sliding doors, which look far superior, maybe I will have to become an artist. If there is any member who has built this kit, :oops:I am looking for an explanation to the instruction:???: "When joining arches each arch moulding will need to be cut back by 7 mm on the joining edge", okay, there are deep moulded guide lines, but why?? that means you get a shorter run of arches on the layout.            all the best  Kevin

The arches are designed so there is sufficient width at each end for the end pillar on the parapet walls. If you join two (or more) arches together, this means the amount of 'land' between the parapet walls is twice the width of the pillar, hence you have to trim 7mm off each end to reduce the width to match one pillar covering/overlapping both adjoining ends.

Note that mine are only acting as placeholders at the moment so I haven't added the gutters to disguise the joins. The whole lot are only Blu-tacked in place!

Hi Jeff                  Thank you for the explanation, now I can see why it is necessary in a run of arches, your infill doors look better than I thought they could look. The blu tack gives a better idea how the viaduct will look on the layout without being permanent.                                                                   all the best  Kevin
