While at the truro exhibition i did notice on a layout some metcale kits that had been improved quite a lot and did vastly improve their appearance,

A number of things had been done a signifiacant thing was changing the roofs from card to plasticard.

Things like the water tower had been changed to plasticard as well plus details like pipework between buildings had been added

The boiler house aswell had been changed and a actual boiler was visible inside the building

Plus all the buildings had been weathered which vastly improved ther overall appearance.

So with alittle efort a basic card kit can be made to look very good indeed.

heres a couple of piccys

Those look very effective, Brian.

As you know, I did some improvements to my brewery buildings when I built mine, but restricted myself to gutters and downpipes, painting the fold/score lines and some light weathering. I was tempted to go further, but in the end left the improvements as shown, as the site is at the back of the layout, so enough was enough.

I intend to use some Metcalf kits for more prominent structures and I'll certainly be doing more with those, but it seems that there's so much lined up for me at club level that the WVR is taking a bit of a back seat at the moment :exclam
