Not having access to a UK hobby shop to look for myself, does anyone know if the stone color of the new GWR station matches the stone color of the Metcalf platform kit.  Doesn't seem to looking at the advert pics in the modelling mags.

I have both, it doesn't but I'm going to use it anyway, by the time the platform is built and the ballast is down there won't be much of it showing especially if you weather it a bit. The platform walls do get a bit mucky, even in diesel days.

Might be worth taking a look at the Scalescenes 'Hornby Magazine Station Platform'. It looks as it would match quite nicely.

See here ; http://scalescenes.com/products/HM08

or even Scalescenes platform kit ; http://scalescenes.com/products/R008-Station-Platform  Ashlar would be a good match.

Cheers, Gary.

Is there any reason for this miss-match?  You would think that any manufacturer would ensure that different structures, presumably supposed to be built from the same materials, are compatible.  This would be just the reason to prevent me from buying the kits on offer.  Why would you want a model layout with 'multi-coloured' buildings?  Where is the harmony?

Having said that Terry, and myself not reading they site correctly in the first instance, the Metcalfe site recommends there own stone platform kit with this model… see here :

Yes, but Mick above in post No.2 says he has both and they don't match.  Surely, it would be just as easy for the manufacturer to get the stone colour to match than not to?

I think it boils down to the fact that the platforms match the type of stone used on their cottages, viaducts, shops and cafe's etc. to make them compatable. The GWR station appeared long after the platform kit. As I already said though, by the time the platform is built and the edges weathered it really does past muster. You are going to have to look really close to see much difference.

Hi I've built a couple of Metcalfe model kits including the wayside station you are talking about I would think that metcalfe's would be able to supply a matching cover paper for your platform if there isn't one already in the kit they usually have different options with their kits.
