One of my favourite places that is only about an hours journey from my home is Spring Bluff Station which is a heritage listed site. The majority of rail traffic these days is coal trains and the only time that passnger trains stop here is during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in September. The station has won many awards for the beautiful gardens that come to life in spring that were originally tended by the station Master. When the station was decommissioned and the last station master left, a group started a trust to maintain and keep up the tradition of the gardens. This year I went up to Spring Bluff to have a look and picked a day when the trains were not running due to track maintenance, the trip was still worth the drive. Although half way up the mountains the site suffered some savage damage during the floods in 2010 -2011. The majority of the track was washed away and there were quite a few months of reconstructive work to put things right. To look at it now you wouldn't know that it suffered so badly. I hope you enjoy these photos.

I remember visiting that station when I came to QLD for the 2008 NMRA Convention - very impressive indeed.
