The day I got to ride the footplate.
Just a few photo's from the cab of the Furness No.20 during my ride on the footplate. (excited don't even come close)The curator Tim Owen twiddling (that's a technical term when you don't know what it is) a wheel in the cab…
It was a little crowded with four of us on the cab, I had one foot on the tender and the other on the fall plate…..But what a buzz.
I don't think I will ever get a chance like that again?
Gently does it…..What a day that was?

I once had a short ride on the footplate of a Gresley A4 streak on the North York Moors Railway at Goathland - because I looked interested in what went on "inside" the cab. The driver asked if I wanted a ride ……………………..
