Model Train Weekend

I decided to have a look at what was going on at the museum today.

Here are some shots of things I thought might be of interest:

I like this 1950s CN livery.  If I were to do North American, this is what I'd do.

The star of the show for most of us I think.

Since the cab was open I thought I'd get some detail shots of the backhead.

Some tender front detail.  The corridor was open but I didn't venture through it.

The loco is over a pit.  These might be valuable to modellers.  Not something you see everyday.

Next door is CP 2850.

I couldn't resist this lovely shot of the plumbing.

There are loads of steam and diesel locos in the main hall.  Carriages too, along with some very vintage trams.

If you are ever in the area, the museum is a good place to visit.

On the balcony was a really good S scale layout.  The lighting is lousy and my pictures don't do justice to it.

Another layout that caught my eye was this charming and well executed 0 narrow gauge layout.

This is in the lobby.

A grand day out.

John

Some great looking stuff there John and I'm so pleased they gave credit to the team at Shildon for the "tarting up" of D.O.C. - she was in a dreadful state when she arrived over here for the "Great Gathering":

Cheers Noviceman.

Agree Peter, pretty appalling condition then.  It seems to be getting the exposure it deserves now.
