Water Mill No.1 update

Well it's been a busy week and I finally got some time to do bits and pieces to the bridge..and here we are…

A overall view with backdrop from a previous layout attempt, I thought it better than looking at bricks?

It appears that the milkman is running late…

The bridge over the river was made from a piece of 9mm ply I had spare, A sheet of Slaters 7mm stone (about £2.70) and a bit of paint, Oh and not forgetting the Wills English bond courses cut from spare pieces in my bits box…..So all in all shall we say "Well under a fiver?" In my view That's a result?

Did anyone notice that I put two more ring courses to the arch?

Very neatly done. I like the way you have lined up all the stones on the corners. The weathering on the carriage is very nice too.

That's a very well detailed scene Alan. :thumbs:thumbs

I like the fishermen and their Morris Traveller plus all the details on the mill sluice.

I too think 7mm scale stone looks better on "OO" gauge layouts - although, in theory, it's almost twice the size, it seems to blend in very well and, whilst the bridge has a fairly "flat" arch, it looks right. ;-)

I think that arch is probably based on Brunel's at Maidenhead.:hmm

Hi and thank you for your comments. Not having seen the Brunel's at Maidenhead bridge I found it on the net , and how coincidental that mine should not be far from it, I was a little worried about the height of my arch but when I checked it, it is just one quarter in height of the width of the arch. Which I believe is correct…The persons fishing are not two men but Mr & Mrs Fairweather, so named as they never go out when it's raining.(a bit like my missus)
The Mill does not have any where to go so I thought I may as well make a bridge and turn it into a diorama. You never know one day I may find a place for it.
