Although my layouts are end to end, In order to give some loco's a run round I made a lift off section…When I got my New Hornby P2 I thought lets give it a run in session….well even running light engine the tender derailed at one part of the section….Now given the fact that my other 63 loco's do not derail then i t must be Back to back measurment…No they were all spot on, So not wanting to spend all day figuring it out I replaced the offending bit of track…..

I also extended into the stock rails and added a check rail….Everything is happy again.. Job Done….

Now, my question is….do the other 63 locos like that new bit of track?

I note the P2 has an 8 wheel tender so wonder if there's an issue there.  It's been my experience that Hornby, more so than other manufacturers, seem to play fast and loose with back to back.  To me correct B2B is 14.5mm.

Yes all the other loco's are fine even the other 8 wheel tenders….And at the end of the day it's what's known as 'Perminent Way in action'

Nice work Alan, another bit of improvisation to stick away in the memory banks…
Is it a fold down extension?

cheers

Hi Marty
it is not a fold down, it is lift off. Check it out on Youtube.
