So how many feedbacks are you able to use on one LDR board and i assume you can use them in conjunction reed switches or other types of switches.
I was just wondering how the cost relates to doing the same thing through DCC detection modules.

The train detection is normally done through the bc3 controller but I have found that sometimes a train will get stuck when the wheels start to get dirty. I have been fitting 1k resistors across the rear bogies on the last coach of a train set so to help with train detection and this normally works fine but occasionally this fails leading the bc3 controller to think the block is empty. It then tells it's mate up the line to send the next train that runs into the back of the one that is hiding from the controller!     The LDR boards have a single changeover relay fitted so all I have to do is use it to switch a 1k resistor between the rails so the controller thinks there is a train there. I actually do this elsewhere to simulate a brake application for the up trains approaching the station and it works quite well.
Here's a video clip I found on youtube showing one of the LDR relay boards

Greetings everyone hope you are all keeping well.
Just a quick heads up Wemblesden now has it's own dedicated youtube channel for video updates so please like, share and subscribe to stay up to date with my progress. Here's the first installment of what I am currently working on..

[yt]hxWi9-WVR30[/yt]

This was the mk1 version I am now working on the mk2 version after too many issues with the cheap mp3 players.

Show wise we will be taking Wemblesden to the NErailex show at the end of July.

Dave.

Well impressed with your ambient sound solutions Dave im sure if you can get it all fine tuned you could actually market a ambient sound solution package.
Its an area that at the moment there is not a great deal out there for people to buy if there was an easy to implement kit im sure you would have takers of it.

Cheers Brian I have been thinking of doing something like this for a while although my original idea was to record a 6 channel sound track and play it back on a dvd player. These mp3 boards are really cheap and do exactly the same thing so we will see how it goes.

The new Mp3 modules work really well Dave lots of possibilities with units like that.
I like the use of the diodes with the DC set up a cheap way of auto dropping speed of a loco.
With all your catenary  i know i would end up wrecking loads fiddling around with bits on the layout.

Thanks for the video. Some great modelling. I will now have to find your channel.

The Tandy store brought a smile to my face. It was a great store even for amateurs like me. Sadly it is a name that disappeared long ago from Oz.

Cheers

Very enjoyable video Dave showing a great insight of the many aspects of attending a show with the layout.

Rachel and yourself did a great job. Did the dinosaur stay on the roof?

Thanks Brian yes the dino stayed on the roof with the washing line. She did have a green one that spent saturday riding round the layout in one of the wagons behind the 37!
