Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

Sorry to hear you have movement issues :(
These seem to have worked for my draw bridge with rails lining up.
Fairly reasonable cost too

One day I'll settle on a trackplan….
but likelihood is it won't be today!

Hi Peterm.  If one has a stay alive fitted in a Loco, how does one halt the Loco at a station or signal. Best wishes Kevin

I know the question wasn’t directed at me, but stay alives do not effect how the loco responds to commands. When I turn the power off at the end of the day, the lights stay on for a little while even though it’s stationary. Hope that helps Kevin.

The Teasel Bay town council have announced a temporary freeze on funding for new railway related projects until the new year due to a new arrival of baby due in December!

Whilst very exciting, major projects like Norcott station and the narrow gauge line will need to be shelved for the time being.

Chris,

Congrats in order, a most important time so enjoy.

I see various comments /feedback about your bridge alignment problems but had missed the original post. Are you aware of the outstanding work done by St Enodoc with his lifting flap (RMWeb)? Sadly all the presently missing images on the website mean you can only read the text at:

Link to St Enodoc Lifting Flap

It is a very clever design so if not too late may be worth getting in touch with John if you are a member over there. This is something you'll live with every time you use your layout so is worth getting spot on. I'll also send you a PM on this.

Colin

Congratulations on the great news.

I'm sure the Teasel Bay Council can make do for a while with existing projects to be completed using existing materials and stocks.

Thanks all. Been making some progress on Norcott station. Finallly extended the wood with the brackets I had. The station will fit a 6+2 HST set comfortably, which isn’t too bad!

I tested out some Peco platform edges to get a feel for the station platforms.

After a few months off I’m back. I won’t bore you with the details!

I’ve caught up with most of the forum too, great to see so much progress on the great layouts on here. I’m always in orr at the work and creativity that goes into the models.

Colin W sent me some fantastic information on lifting flaps to solve my issues on the lift out section. Unfortunately while it looks appealing, I’d crash into the garage door above and bad/no planning prevents a downwards swing.

The issue I had was my wood work skills are ok at best, which meant there is some movement of the section so trains would jump if the tracks were not perfectly aligned. After researching approaches of others I decided on bolts to lock and hold the section tightly in place.

With it now locked in place, I’ve had to take up the track on the section to relay but hopefully this will resolve the issue.  It will work for now, one day when I decide to add a bridge scene I’ll need to re-work it.

Still continuing to get this join correct and consistent. It’s mainly due to my poor woodwork skills which I’m able to hide in other areas. I’ll keep persisting and hopefully get there!

While that goes on it’s always nice to be distracted by actually playing trains! Here are a few recent running shots.
