Branch Line - Roundy, roundy with some shunting

If you didn't relay it now, you'll only have to relay it later on after it's been ballasted and had scenery applied. Not that that is insurmountable as Rick has shown us (to name but one).

Hope you're feeling better. 36 deg C here in Perth today and I'm sheltering in the air conditioned layout room listening to the cricket.

Cheers

Thanks chaps.

I've found that the one advantage of using Copydex to stick the track down, is that it makes it easy to lift it if necessary with little or no damage.

360 Marty, I'd settle for a nice 200 with a bit of sunshine at the moment :mutley

These have been partly visible in a few pictures recently but nobody has commented on them, so I thought I'd post a few pictures.

Now I was going to build some sort of Great Eastern style of building, but since I've decided to move into a more modern era, I thought these might be usable in some way.

After all, they do date back to the 60s!

They are classic bits of model railwayana aren't they! Once you've finished your TLC on them they'll do the job nicely.

Hope they'll be ok Marty, but for a 99p 'win' on the bay along with a signal box I can't complain.

Meanwhile, by the power of GIMP, no chimneys

What d'ya think guys?

………… or I could just take the roofs off (they are just push fit) and have a whole new roof and canopy

I will take the masking tape off the windows eventually, but one of them  needs another coat of paint as it was bright red plastic, the other  being brown.

99p… bargain!
Why bother removing the chimneys? Many older buildings continued into service even if the chimney's were blocked up and no longer used?
Unless you are deliberately looking for a newer built building?

cheers

I tried just two chimneys as well Marty….

but I think I'm gong to stick with four.

As you said, just some TLC with new glazing etc.

After all fictitious railway, fictitious building.

Haven't really got very far.

Did the skyline a few weeks ago, but I've only just got around to putting the terrace houses on. (Too cold).

I've got a low wall to build to go in front of the houses and the platform will then get extended back to meet the wall.

Well, that's the plan anyway.

Slow progress Owen, but I'm not in any hurry.

Thanks Andy, it's actually turning out a bit better than I thought it might.

Coming along nicely Ed. Like the look of the back scene, where did you get them from if I may ask?

Back scene is finished for now and I've managed to disguise the wire without resorting to another chimney…..

I still need to refurbish the station buildings and put a ticket barrier in, but you can see the houses (just) through the entrance.

So before the catenary goes up, there was just a little bit of track work to redo.

I've been planning on replacing the diamond crossing that links the storage yard to the layout since last June and someone had suggested a single slip, which won't fit because of space.

However, I'd worked out two small 'Y' points would do the same job and provide more operational flexibility.

(You can tell how old the next two pictures are, as there is still an engine shed in the top corner).

So yesterday, while waiting for glue to dry…

Hence my thread on wiring Peco SL-E97s.

First portal in.

Don't think I've got the gap quite right between the pantograph and the contact wire. I want it as small as possible, but not touching.

I also need to shorten the station canopy, but I was considering doing that anyway by cutting the back of the roof flush with the wall.

Need to wire in the two Y points first.
