Good on ya John.

This should be fun, I reckon you need just about as many trees as I do :brickwall

Well,I've decided to try two types,a basic oak/sycamore shaped tree,and a weeping willow for the sake of a bit of variety.I started,like Mike C,wth the basic twisted wire frames;

Tree1;

Tree 2;

The same two trees painted with acrylics;

And this is some of the extra bits of foliage that I'm going to "beef" tree1 up with prior to spreading PVA on the ends of the branches to recieve the clump foliage.

More tomorrow evening!!

Here's the next stage to tree number 1; Bits of dry seamoss are glued onto the ends of some branches to beef-out the bulk of the eventual tree…painted and then left to dry til tomorrow night.

Well,I did a rush job on this last night before I went to bed.I didn't put too much PVA on the ends of the tree,and the scatter material is darker and denser than what I usually use. The resultant "test dip" produced this very minimal effect that I quite like.It somehow suggests to me one of those African trees you see pictures of in National Geographic magazines,usually surrounded by Elephants!!

not sure now if I should leave this "as is",or add a bit more greenery.I quite like the fact that its see-through,and you can actually enjoy the shapes between the branches.
  Whaddya reckon…leave it alone,or add more???
:hmm

Hello John G,

                   I would humbly suggest that you leave it as is. If you make anymore you will be able to assess the overall appearance of a forest or copse. If not dense enough add some more then. I have made 3 wire-trees so far but not "dressed" them yet. I can't get the pictures posted but will keep trying,

                                                                                    Kind Regards,

                                                                               Michael Thornberry.

I also would leave it as it is John - it looks great.  Never mind Africa, you often see trees in Europe that look like that because they're struggling with drought / disease or some other "maladie".

Excellent job - I particularly like the trunk and "structure.  I think you've caught it just spot on. (It's at least twice as good as mine but then it should be - it's only half the size………:roll::lol:)

I'd leave it too because I really like it. It would provide some variety if seen near other bushier examples.

Superb bit of branch work John. I would say leave it, put it somewhere that might be wind swept or boggy. Top of the hill type of thing?

The fingers holding the tree are incredibly realistic, although perhaps a touch overscale for N gauge if you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism :roll:
