Off to the doctors today to get it checked out as I've had the symptoms for a while.  Don't like the idea of the "finger" test but I need to know what I'm dealing with and then take it from there, ie do what the doctor tells me.

I have had the PSA blood test once a year & the finger also once a year for about 20 years now - so far, so good. Blood test I don't mind but the finger, well until they come up with another method, I guess we have to put up with.

One of the fathers I knew on the school pick up run, when I was telling him about the finger, he shuddered so I pointed out what women have to go through for the Pap smear test. That made him stop & think!

Now in your case Peter, I hope things are OK.

Thanks Sol, I may be off line for a while as i'm moving from Ballarat down to my daughter's place on the Mornington Penninsula.  On a positive side there'll be room to start a layout which will keep me busy and keep my mind off it but I will follow the advice of my doctor to the letter, I have too much to live for to let this get me.  I figure stay busy, stay positive and heed the advice of the medicos.  I do have a problem with the rectal exam but I need to know so it will happen today.

Good to hear you have plucked up the courage to go to see the doctor. There would be countless men out there who would leave the visit far too long. As Sol has said, it's better to check more often than not at all. Hope all is good and you heed the advice of the doctor.

Regards, Gary.

Hi Peter, all the very best to you and i sincerely hope you are ok.I have had the dreaded finger test and by a lady doctor no less but it far outweighs the alternative. As Ron says women have to go through far worse than we do.Good luck.

Hi Peter
I have the finger test every year, but I'm thinking of changing dentists.  :mutley

Seriously, most enlarged prostates are not cancerous and can be shrunk with meds.

I hope yours is one of those many.

Cheers

Have had two scares in the last 4 years, and cameras up and down both ends.

Sadly, my lovely local doctor was a former rugby forward for the Riberac team, is a rock climbing instructor and a volunteer fire and rescue medic.

His hands are regularly used by a local excavator builders as design templates…..

Even childbirth pales into insignificance by comparison.

The very best of luck,

Doug

Fingers crossed for you Peter (mine, not the doctors !!). :thumbs

On the positive side, in many, many cases, the Big C isn't as bad as it used to be.  In my tiny circle, I have at least 3 friends in France who immediately spring to mind who've had it and all are fighting fit now.

As one who has run the gamut of these procedures for the last 10 years or more, I would much rather undergo ANY internal examination, blood test and /or small operation than be considered riddled with disease!
We all hope that everyone else is free of ANY complications but face the fact that it could be ANY of us next time!

Hi Peter, this is the time for positive vibes. A very good friend of mine thankfully pulled through OK, so no reason why you shouldn't do the same. Think positive!

Excuse me but I thought I was positive!

I am positive that I am going to die, one day!

I am doing everything I can to stave off that day and recommending others to do the same, isn't that positive?

Yes, you can't get much more positive than that Peter.

Oh and by the way the comment wasn't directed at you it was meant as support for Boilermaker99 (who also is called Peter). Unless of course you registered on here under two names?

Sorry if it offended you.

I'll move on, thanks.

When I had my exam my doctor is about 6'4" and has fingers the size of my ankles.
I walked to the surgery but had to phone my wife to come and run me home:oops:

I used to be normal until my grandson discovered model railways
