A Modern Outline Kit 14/48XX Auto-tank loco

Thanks very much Doug and Marty,
I think it`s all down to the kit itself being such a quality design product and relatively easy to put together.

best thing I ever did in modelling was to learn to solder with a few scraps of brass, a viscious flux (Bakers Fluid) which could rust plain paper !! and a 30watt soldering iron.

then I bought a Badger 200 airbrush in the early 1980`s ( which is still used and in full working order)

….and then a modelling tray for the kitchen table………..

….I still have the tray but I`ve been kicked out of the kitchen into the potting shed………………………

Cheers

John

Good to see your inner sanctum John.  Everything ready to hand.

I completely agree about soldering and airbrushing.   :thumbs These skills (and they're not hard to learn) open up new avenues to modelling.

The only skill I never did tick off is the use of a ruling pen. :Red Card

Thanks John
Get yourself a Bob Moore`s lining pen and some Ronson lighter fluid and you won`t look back.

A friend of mine also recommends lighter fluid as a thinner, something that may not be generally known.

The reality is that the modelling I am doing doesn't require much in the way of lining.  I can get away with lining transfers in the main.

Trundled her out of the paint shed today after her final varnish finish.

The fitters have been busy reassembling her and she successfully
trundled up and down the short test track.

Just the detailing of the cab to complete plus the glazing and then I can finally fit her GWR brass number plate.

Lovely John,
Are you sure it's your last loco build…. I am not sure I could give up after producing such quality as you have recently.

I have to hold on to my chair to stop me from falling out due to the guffaws.   :Happy

It's a treat to see a build from John.
