These old staithes, partially buried by the realigned A470, were I believe part of the Cerrig-Gwynion siding, in the days when the tarmac was once the Mid Wales Railway. They were for loading stone from the quarries up in the hill above. As far as can be seen from road level some of the old quarry buildings survive. Fortunately the staithes have survived the bulldozer.
