Youtube video - a beginners guide to Templot

Quite often I've heard comments along the lines of 'Templot'  "It's brilliant" "It's confusing" "I've no idea What it does" "I'd love to use it but I don't know how" "Wheres the manual ?"

I came across this Video by a long time Templot user which goes a long way to answering some of these questions. Be warned, it's over an hour and a half long BUT Hopefully will give you a good start in its use.

Martin Wynne (He's the one wot wrote the Templot Software) also has a site dedicated to Templot with a lot more information, I'll pop the link in once I go off and find it.

Martin is also a member on here and I'm sure will be happy to help but PLEASE do the video first, and visit his site BEFORE chasing him down with  basic questions  :thumbs
P.S. I know Martin may have some comments about the video  ;-). But I DO think it gives some of the basics and takes some of the initial trepidation out of starting with Templot . . . Martin ??  :)

Thanks Matt.

The problem with that video is that it makes things much more complicated than they actually are.

For example using the metric calculator to find the equivalent of 48"  radius and then carefully typing it in, when all he needed to do was enter i48 with the letter i prefix to tell Templot that you are entering inches instead of mm.

And then a whole sequence lasting several minutes to create a diamond ladder crossover, when in fact it requires just one click on the tools > make ladder crossover menu item for Templot to do the whole thing for you in one go (and more accurately).

And several other places where there are much better and quicker ways of doing something than was shown.

Please folks, if you are stuck on Templot, join the friendly Templot Club forum and ask on there:

If you like watching videos, I occasionally do live demo sessions, and you can watch the recordings of them at:

And there is a whole list of interactive tutorial videos at:

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks Martin I understand your comments about some parts of the video being more complicated than they need to be, but for a complete novice I actually found the basics at the start easy to understand, and now you've given us links to your tutorials as well, hopefully some novices to templot will find plenty of help starting here, which is something I struggled to find anywhere on our forum ?Be interesting to see other opinions if anyone else has a look  :thumbs
