For current users of the Electrofrog or Insulfrog versions of our turnouts the new Unifrog format gives modellers the best of both worlds. As supplied, the turnout is wired completely “liveâ€, except for the frog tip and wing rails, and can be used straight out of the packet without any further modification (and so behaves like an Insulfrog). However, the modeller can choose to electrify the frog and wing rails by connecting the pre-welded wires as shown on the diagram below. To change polarity the modeller can use our PL-13 or PL-15 change-over switch/microswitch, or the SmartSwitch SmartFrog PLS-130.

Or, as is often the case I might be missing the point.

Right Hand Turnout
Code70 - Unifrog
The wiring of these new turnouts is a development of both the Insulfrog and Electrfrog designs. The stock-rails are wired to the centre-rails at the factory, which in turn are connected to the corresponding frog-rail. This means the turnout is completely live(except for the tip of the frog) with no extra wiring required. If the turnout is being used as a switch to isolate a section of track then it is simple job to remove the wire that joins the centre-rail and stock-rail and it will work like a current Insulfrog.

Yes, I suppose I would need to have in my hands to see what Peco are on about.
The ability to wield the hot stick opens up a whole world of possibilities for the modeller.

Buy code 100 while you can, IMO it's going to be phased out quite soon.

Saves Peco from producing two different products with associated packaging costs, stock quantities and other logisitcal costs.

Use our search engine for Unifrog and there are other threads as well.
