Real World trap points
Hi All. Obviously everything about real World Railways is really heavy. And trap points are closed by the vehicles going up the graient , and spring open, quite independent of any rail staff standing by to operate them on the off chance that a Loose wagon runs down a gradient in the wrong direction by itself. So if one follows a “ Prototype “ Railway for their layout? then one is stuck with the Peco version of the real Trap Point. Unless one of our fine Modellers has come up with an alternative?? Best wishes. KevinLast edit: by Passed Driver

Build your own. I think what you are describing is a catch point on a gradient.

Edit: or modify the Peco one. Trap points have throws, and usually protect a major line from a siding.

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Most locomotives will happily run through Peco points from the trailing end when set the wrong way. As I said, make your own, code 75 is bendy enough that it acts as its own spring. Code 100 might be a problem though.
