Save your static grass etc.

Have you discovered this very useful gadget?  It attaches to a vacuum cleaner - it's a universal fit - and it will pick up all your dust and bits of rubbish, while leaving larger items alone!  Basically it is a bunch of narrow tubes in a single unit.  But, you can also put a filter, like an old stocking, between the tool and the pipe and collect and save surplus static grass and other items.  Very handy!!  They come in all sorts of prices, but this one cost me £3 from Amazon. Bargain and works a treat!!

I already collect excess static grass/ground cover by using a stocking over the nozzle of a conventional vacuum cleaner set on low speed. Hold the stocking tight with your hand whilst guiding the nozzle over the required area. When the stocking is full - judged by the change in motor noise, turn of the cleaner and tap the contents into the  receptacle. Just don't ask where I get the stockings from - she doesn't know!

I've used the same method Gary.  The advantage with this is that I can hoover up all my dust and bits, while other larger things like screws or pins are left alone.  Great for cleaning the layout in general.  Using it trap grass and flock is an added bonus.

When I asked SWMBO if she had any old tights I could have, she sat me down and asked if there was something I needed to tell her!

That is the problem Michael. You should have asked for stockings - no questions asked!!
I am not knocking your original post by the way, it seems a great idea.
