Pump and Circumstance

Being tight-fisted again...

I recently had a painful bout of 'Spenditis' and set to to find a nice ready-made hand pump of the sort commonly seen all over the place in the 1950s and a stone trough or cistern with which to pose it. Halfway through the attack I went into remission because

a.  I could find nothing to suit me
b.  Growing pains in the back pocket area

Sites such as Harburns Hobbies, Langleys etc left me gasping for air so I resolved to make my own, using Fimo modelling clay for the stone trough, various bits of plastic from the scrap box and a redundant signal box fire bucket that I drilled out and scraped to a more acceptable rim thickness with a scalpel, replacing the over scale handle as I did so with jewellery wire.

This occupational therapy completely cured the nasty attack, I shall probably invest the savings in some S.L.W., now that interests rates are so low.

That is impressive Doug.
Does it work though?
It's amazing what can be done with a bit of thought and loads of scrap bits.
