New Work Table

Procured a good solid second hand desk for my work area. Was in really, really good nick and would be a shame to scratch it up too much. Has a pull out work top as a bonus.
So bought some El-cheapo plastic trays and then went to see a mate who does re-upholstering and got some off cuts of felt backed vynal. Doubled sided taped the vynal to the bottom of the trays and no worries about scratching the desk top.

Needed some extra working area on the desk to sit my work light on, found that the plastic trays that just happen to sit neatly in the top of the draw.

Added a plastic cutlery tray inside the draw to hold my bits and pieces.

The local Vincent-D-Paul and $2 shops have been most accommodating.

Nice desk. :thumbs I use an old wooden dining room table a friend left with me accidently (as he has not come back for it). Then when that is full, I have my wifes craft table to model on and when that is full, I use the dining room table and then when that is full of models, which isn't as SWMBO keeps telling me we have to eat, I use my boys homework table… Maybe I should buy some drawers or a shed… ;-)

Cheers, Gary.

I've got two, one for stock work, loco and coach kits and bashes, the other for buildings and scenic  work, both surrounded by plastic nests of drawers and trays of various sizes. Heaven knows how I'm going to downsize that lot when I move!, do I have a turn out before or after, sod's law says if I chuck stuff away now I'll need it sometime in the next few years!!

Cheers MIKE

G'day Alan, I like your new work setup, It's good to have every thing where you can find it when you want it, having just downsized into a 55+ two bedroom unit I'm wishing I had the room for your setup.Regards Jeff. ;-)

Yes mate understand that statement, That's why my layout will be staying insitu.
Was planning to move it to a new location but why. More than adequate room where it is,
and besides it was designed originally to be able to get to all parts of the layout easily and the one and only inherrant humungous (yes was that big an issue) with the layout has been fixed.
So here she stays, everything, walls, roof etc of the room will be revamped but the layout stays as is….
No bigger no smaller.

Bigger'er is not necessarily better'er.

Specially when you have some 160 feet (Not scale feet either) to ballast.
