North Norfolk Railway

Yesterday while attending a Stargazing party at Kelling Heath in our caravan I went to Weybourne station on the NNR. I wondered about and took some photo's to help with the layout and wanted to take a photo of the works area but it was off the end of the platform and entry was not permitted! I went back to the station building and found the station-master who was having a sandwich in the ticket office. I asked if anyone would accompany me to take a photo or two? He asked how far I had travelled and I said about 90 miles and he said OK he would accompany me!
He took me down the platform, explained what the little hut was for then round to the shed, in among the loco's under repair, around the lathe area and the new boiler shop which is just being finished. All the while explaining everything and checking I understood and had a photo! The big news there is that they have purchased a turntable from Devon to be installed at Holt station and this may give them a chance to link to Cromer and Norwich in the future, he was very excited about it! Anyway this visit was the best part of an hour and the final few minutes were spent on the footplate of 9f 'Black Prince' What a day! Here are a few photo's and a video of the 9F…

Now that's a lathe!

A bit like how Crocodile Dundee would describe a knife!

Hi Ron,

great photo's and hats off to the station master for facilitating you. Sounds like he went over and above your expectations. always good when that happens. If there are more photo's …….. don't keep them to yourself.:mutley

I didn't get the video link unfortunately, hopefully it will appear somewhere.

thanks again for sharing

Nice to see Black Prince Ron.My late father in law used to drive that for David Shepherd at Longmoor in the sixties.
