What colour?

This is aimed primarily at those guys who live in Corwall.

I really would like to know the GENERAL colour of soil in Cornwall. For instance when modellers model Devon soil it is invariably a red colour. The scientific method I envisaged is that some kind Cornish dweller (Cornishman? Kernoan? Cornwallian? Corn? - wot is it?)  would take a look out of their window and give it their best guess. Any help gratefully appreciated.:thumbs

A Cornish person is generally a Cornishman (or woman), sometimes a Cornubian.

The soil varies in shades of brown from a pale sandy shade to a richer deep brown.  My best suggestion is to use Google Maps to browse around from above.  There are pockets of almost white soil around the big china clay deposits.  Compare the soils from places such as Sennen, Hayle, Mullion, Trelill and Horningtops.  That should give those unfamiliar with the area enough search criteria.

Haven't got a clue about the soil in Cornwall, I'll leave that to the locals, but for many years I thought that someone from that county was  "a Cornetto". :exclam:exclam :lol::lol:

OK, OK, I know better now (since I listened to that Pavarotti tune adapted for selling ice cream) :mutley:mutley

Sung to the tune of "O sole mia" :- Just one cornetto, send him to me, I need some stewards to make the tea.

Yes, I know, I'm getting my coat as we speak. :pedal:pedal:pedal

That may be the show organiser's version but the words are different for layout owners:

Just one small loco, give it to me, to pull my goods train from A to B.  Diesel or dirty steam, just one small loco, is all I need.

Cheers

A cracker Owen:mutley

Jeff - If they were known as Corns then a Cornetto would be a little one - one of the piskies I guess.

And oh dear we seem to have two versions of a show anthem - have you ever wished you hadn't started something.

So to all the normal folk who responded thank you for your help it is more than useful.:thumbs

There's a second verse of course:

OO or P4, it matters not, my track is flexi so what the heck. My trainset is packed away, so time to go home, so far away.

Strangely enough only one member of the forum has volunteered to drive trains on my layout at the exhibition.  Can't think why!

Cheers

Oh a challenge i think. I shall put pen to paper and come up with a song for us all to see when we have had a few :thumbs.

Watch this space. Now let me see, :hmm.

"Oh about 4 years ago a Forum was created by a guy called Bob, who lives in Spain,

He had a dream to bring us all together one fine day,

then that day started to become a reality,"

Verse

"Oh its of to Cornwall we go, off to Cornwall we go,

we shall see all the guys from YMR at long last,

are we there yet are we there yet"

Ok it needs some work but hey, they told OZZIE OSBOURNE the same an he is a multimillionaire now, so i got a good chance i reckon. :thumbs
