I am planning to build a small, easy to transport, 0 gauge shunting lay out, if any one owns a 16t mineral wagon or similar would you be kind enough to give me its length buffer to buffer please.

Thank you, John  :)

Oh, Dr Beeching what have you done?
There once were lots of trains to catch, but soon there will be none.
I'll have to buy a bike, 'cos I can't afford a car.
Oh, Dr Beeching what a naughty man you are!

John, they are 135mm over the buffers.

I recommend Lionheart PO wagons:

This one has been disgracefully vandalized by me to show it in end of life condition in 1962.

They have diecast underframe and beam compensation.  Sprung buffers (well they all do) and very free running - pinpoint axles in brass bearings.

Antics are showing some in stock by March:  RCH 1923 Open Wagons RTR

Dapol have the widest selection but they are not that good IMO having issues beneath the solebars - but then I'm a fusspot.

Parkside kits are very good.

Hi John,

Rule of thumb - OO is 4mm/foot, O is 7mm/foot.    Multiply the dimensions of a regular wagon or van by 1.75. [1.747 by scale]. That will allow you to guesstimate how much space in the various sidings will be required.
