Sound.

BWT1B-.jpg BWT2B-.jpg Hi all,

I've put a Zimo MS480 sound decoder along with a speaker and a stay alive. As is the way with me, I forgot to show the installation of the stay alive and speaker, but here go's anyway.
:brickwall
I've tried jpeg, jpg and Gif and just keep getting File extension error.

The first pic shows that I've discarded the weight which was just about useless anyway, and relaced it with the speaker. I drilled out the funnel to help the sound escape. The MS480 is here as well.

The second pic shows the chassis minus the weight and the post that the weight sat around. I also took out most of the plastic wall (for want of a better word) in front of the chassis halves. I put Kapton tape over those chassis halves as a belt and braces measure.

The last one shows a side on view to show how much room was made my the cutting and chopping. I connected the wires straight to the splder pads on the decoder and wrapped it in Kapton tap ready for the nect bit. I drilled a 1.5mm hole in the boiler back plate and threaded the stay alive wires through the boiler and out through the smokebox door along with the decoder and it's wiring. I stripped the heatsnrink for the Lais stay alive and painted it black, sticking it to the cab roof where it's barely visible if you're actually looking for it. I'll put a crew in it later and that'll finish the job on a really nive model.

Use 'Quick reply' and add the picture as an attachment Pete.

Hi Pete,

I am not a computer expert, so I could easily be wrong and out of my depth here.

Could there be a hidden 'space'  after the 'g' in the .jpeg ?

Cheers,
Claus

I can see where you're coming from, Clause, but I'm doing exactly what I've done when posting pic's before. I really think it's a site problem.

I'm quoting this post as all the pictures have appeared in first post and members might miss them.

A neat installation Pete - I understand there isn't a heap of room in the Beattie well tank.............

I see you've used the new MS 480 decoder - is the MS range the same size as the old MX range ?  I need to get around to fitting a couple - 1 in a Bachmann Crab which I understand is also a fairly tight fit - certainly the YouChoos guide suggests it's not an easy "slot in" fitting ...............

Thanks, Peter.

Sorry that I forgot to take photos of the rest of the installation. I'll try and remember when I do the B4 0-4-0. That one'll be interesting.

The sizes are very close with the MS being 19x11x3.1 and the MX at 20x11x4.

Slightly bigger - that might be a problem…….

I'll have to look at Zimo's spec sheets.  I'm assuming their MXULFA programmer can handle MS decoders …………….:sarcy:

Call it a millimetre in length and thickness. Hopefully still fit where the MX648 would go.
