Or rather, an old Idea resurrected
Those of you who have been members since clockwork days might recall the "Picture of the Week" was selected via a members vote.We have decided to resurect that system although it will now be "Picture of the Month".
All full members are eligable to vote for any photograph posted on here.
At the end of each month, votes will be counted by me (my bank details are ……… ) and the winning picture will be posted as our header picture on the first of each month.
We hope this will grow into a popular monthly event and hope you will all join in by both posting your pictures and also voting in vast numbers …………………..(Australian members - remember, voting is compulsory in Australia ! :cheers)
There will be a new thread each month titled "Picture of the Month" where you can vote for your choice.
Let's see how it goes………………….we can always tweak things if we hit some snags ;-)

Its no big deal Jeff…….Easy mistake to make…..most non GWR types think “pannier†is the generic name for a tank engine I am sure the powers that be will correct it shortly.Nice idea Peter, but would it be possible to get the caption right!
I am just delighted to see my brand new Prairie featured on the header……thank you for selecting it Alan ….much appreciated

The fact that I didn't see the earlier caption means this went right over my head !! I've just spent 6 hours reading, examining and re-reading everything I'd written to do with this thread - including John's reply, and still the penny didn't drop !!!
Don't worry though - I'll get the picture counting right ………………………………….

On another, slightly related subject, is there any reason why this forum doesn't have the facility of a 'like' button? It would be very handy to show your appreciation, easily and quickly.

Will it be photographs posted in the particular month? And do we only get one pick? (Sometimes there are a few that I like!)
And thank you for volunteering to do the count and I look forward to seeing how it works.

Alas, each member is only allowed 1 selection per month otherwise we could be swamped with selections but only have 2 or 3 members posting. You do have 12 choices each year although, having spent just half an hour selecting my choice this time, I could easily have come up with 20 or more very worthty pictures and hardly scratched the surface. There are some really great pictures around so let's see some of them in the Picture of the Month thread - even if they're not ultimately selected, at least we'll see them again and I sure enjoyed looking for my selection.
