Well done on getting YMRC ported to a new software. :)

When I moved my Templot Club forum from UltraBB to XenForo 2 years ago I simply archived the existing forum as read-only, and started again with a new forum. The prospect of migrating everything across was just too daunting.

If you have managed it for YMRC, that's just amazing!

One of the long-time problems with YMRC is that the original owner Bob Heath was so pleased with the way the original WowBB code and templates were working, that he refused to upgrade to UltraBB when Jim Hale took over WowBB and modernised it. The first version of Jim's UltraBB was just a rebranding of WowBB, and Bob wanted to stick with it.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks Martin, that's much appreicated.

It's not been easy and I'll admit by this point i'm pretty sleep derpived

It just didn't seem right to let all this great old content die out, there's still the occasional new user and fairly regular set of old timers hanging around here, Besides all that, I just didn't want to have to listen to Barchester weep into his whisky.

Also as you know, there's a point where it becomes a personal trial, I just can't let the damn thing beat me! :ninja:

Signatures? Where we're going we don't need no stinking signatures!

I've posted in a similar theme in Shunters Return (I think) but if you found migrating Templot too daunting Martin, then that's a double scotch I need to share with Breaker.

It's interesting to note that at least a couple of UltraBB forums are still running:

Free Rails (a model railway forum), now hosted on Logicweb: Freerails

Stuart Williams' boat forum, now hosted on Bluehost: IP Home Port | The Original Website For Island Packet Yacht Owners And Enthusiasts

Which proves it can be done, but they must be wondering for how much longer before they have to bite the bullet of migrating to new software.

Martin.
