Yep, it's grand to have a hobby, or three :)

Bill :)

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Its a Skywatcher MN190 (Massukof/Newtonian) 8" on a powered mount and a Canon1000d camera (guided)
If that helps? 10 exposures of 6 minutes, stacked together.

Cheers
Ron

Great photo…. around 160 BILLION solar masses according to Wikipedia… does that mean 160 Billion stars? I hope you waved!

Now… 10 exposures… each of 6 mins…. then the processing time to stack the photos… plus set up time for the telescope…. man…. think of the track you could have laid in that time :mutley

Thank you Peter (et al..) been stargazing for 4 years now and I soon realized that to see what I really wanted to see I would have to photograph it! Unfortunatly in Engand this has been the worst stargazing winter for many years due to the cloud etc  and a lot of folk have packed up the hobby as a result, which I think is a shame! Anyway I like the summer constellations but not the light nights!

Thanks
Ron

PS: I am putting the laptop in the railway shed so that while the camera's busy (sometimes up to an hour!) I can relax with the railway!!
