Does anyone recognise this chap?

I spotted this 'spotter' in a Hornby advert in Hornby magazine and he's ideal for my layout- purely because he looks like me (good to have a cameo!) but I have no idea what make he is or even if the figure is commercially available or not.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom

If it's 00 size, it's well painted.
Don't recognise the origins though.
Could be 'shopped' but I doubt it.

Thanks for the reply!
It is 00 scale, I'd thought it might be Photoshopped but hoped not - that would be cheeky of Hornby placing him in an advert!

Looks like an old (1960s early 70s) Airfix figure. I have one in a duffel coat but someone has given him a beard & glasses.
I can not get a clear image of him but the basic figure is dressed the same  but in a different pose.

Hmm…Those glasses would be very difficult to do convincingly, I don't think I'd try it in OO…the pose looks a little awkward, too.

I think Hornby out sourced their illustrations of model layouts to a professional model builder (can't remember his name), but I think this is a discreet picture of him photoshopped into the illustration.

I agree I think this is photoshopped, he is far to well painted if painted it would be impossible to paint the glasses.

I'm not in a position to do so at present, but perhaps one of our members may be able to try using an artist's 1mm Indian ink marker, or a OHP transparencies pen to try 'drawing' spectacles on a 4mm figure? That would be one way to do it…..
