Terrier sound.

As above, I've had a win at last. I'm waiting for a couple of  suitable speakers to come before I put this one back together properly,  but I'll post a few pic's to show a Zimo MX648 decoder (speaker will go  on top) and a Lais stay alive unit in the cab. I've cut the bunker floor out and will put some real coal in tomorrow.
When the speakers arrive I'll finish this one and then start the other one; Merton. Hope these pic's help someone.
The shiny thing's the top of the motor. You can see the Lais stay alive in the cab. Pretty easy to run the wires through, But nice and easy to knock bits off. I'll wait until the sound is in and working before I try and glue all the bits back on.  :)

Cheers Pete.

Pete,

That's one of the new Hornby releases I think, if so that's most encouraging as I have one that would welcome sound.
Will follow your further progress,

Colin

I've ordered two Minnow 4 speakers from Youchoos (and an MX658N to replace the fried one) and will post some more shots, or maybe even a video when I've finished. They both run very nicely in their present state and with the Lais stay alive handle points and crossings perfectly.

The shot where I'd cut out the bunker top and put in a false floor was a mistake. I'd underestimated how high the weight came up, so had to fill it in again, but it's now got real coal anyway.

The two speakers has me puzzled, do you have 2 Terriers to fit out? It's usually one speaker per chip, certainly for these smaller ones anyway.

That's a very neat installation in what I understand is a tiny loco Pete.

All hard wired I'm guessing ?

Knocking bits off seems to be par for the course nowadays - there are so many fragile bits sticking up everywhere.  I'm just learning to hard wire a couple of split chassis models and boy oh boy, am I having some fun !!  I think I've said before that I have shovels as hands and I'm sure my workbench is constantly shaking …………..

Yes Peter, hard wired. I'm keeping all the knocked off bits separate. Speakers still sitting at LHR cleared and awaiting departure. If you've got sausage fingers you'd have a job with these.

Split chassis' not so bad if you have a Dremel type tool to make room for a decoder, but you do have to be careful with isolating the motor/decoder from the chassis. Good luck.

Well here we are again. The speakers arrived and were fitted. I started loading the sound to one of them and it stalled at 60%. I left it for a good 20 minutes, but nothing happened so I turned it all off and thought I'd start again. Got as far as 'locating decoder' and that was it. Tried multiple resets with no luck.

I went to the other one and more or less the same story. After talking to Jeremy at Digitrains, I sent them both back. He emailed me that he'd loaded sound to both decoders with no problem. When he sent them back he left the two test speakers connected to them and when they got here, they worked perfectly. I refitted the decoders with the Minnow speakers from Youchoos and they now work OK.

Jeremy had posted them back on 6/1/22 and they got here a couple of days ago!

Not only did he not charge for loading the sound, but he also left the 23mm round speakers on. Good service or what?

Cheers Pete.
