What,s the easiest way to remove the Heralds on Bachman Steam Loco Tenders without affecting the paint.

I removed some lettering from a Bachmann loco by scraping with my fingernail.  You should be able to feel if the "herald" is slightly raised.  You don't want to use anything abrasive or sharp.  You could also try car paint restorer, like Turtle Wax.  I've had success removing lettering from Hornby stuff using that.  Bachmann lining seems to be embedded and I couldn't shift it - painted over it.

Timpo prints  (paint) so carefully. Very gentle scraping with a fine scapel blade may work. You'll need 5-10x magnification. Even then you will still see where it was. Normal approach is to remove by sanding and then repaint. You might get away with those paint patch decals if it's a good color match. If you are replacing a GWR emblem with a totem decal or vice versa, masking, sanding and painting with a decal patch for just that area works OK. Finish the side with a coat of dull varnish.
