I purchased one of these from Digitrains of LIncoln last week, I am over the moon with it! Runs like a dream, looks the part and the Sultzer sound is brilliant!!I have yet to build my layout but running it in on a test track has been very enjoyable. This is the first loco i have bought for 20 years and is quite a revelation to me. Thank you Digitrains and Bachmann!

Nice purchase Ron, you would be chuffed !

Model railways have come some way over the last few years. I know I was quite surprised to see how much has changed, even though I visit a few exhibitions annually. I haven't gone down the sound route yet, but one day…

Enjoy your railway.

Cheers, Gary.

I've got their Class 25 with their own (Bachmann) sound chip in it Ron - sounds great but the timing is out.  I think they had a bad batch but, for what it was, it was on the cheap side.  One day, I'll get it re-blown to sort out the timing errors.

I've got 2 or 3 of Digitrains sound chips (Zimo) and I'm also over the moon with them all.  Paul Chetter, who designs the sound files for some of theirs is a member on here. :thumbs

Once you go for sound, it curtails the growth of the loco stud somewhat ……………..:roll:  The cost of the chip is not far off another loco but, IMHO, they're well worth saving up for. :cheers

Peter, a quick bodge for the out of sync sounds on the 25 s to set CV3 to a very high value (try 240). When moving off, move the throttle to step 1, wait for the brake release, then open up the throttle. I did this with mine until I got a legomanbiffo reblow to fix it properly. The Bachmann sounds are good, and also reasonably responsive.

I still have my Bachmann early class 24, with Howes' sounds and a bass enhanced speaker. It still pleases me every time I run it. This was one of the earlier third-party sound fittings I did.

Ron, you are on a slippery slope now with sound! I started in a small way and now have 37 sound fitted locomotives and units. It does add an extra dimension, to the point where many of my non-sound locos now don't get much running, compared to the sound-fitted ones.

Ron, you probably don't need to change the CV on your Digitrains one, it was really a tweak t get around the imperfect translation Bachmann did when converting their version 3.5 sounds to version 4 of the ESU decoders they use. Even so, I usually tweak CVs 3 and 4 slightly to suit my style of driving, but always note the original value first so it can be restored if necessary.

Happy New Year to you and everyone on the forums, and your families too.

:cheers
