Panic?

Hi All.  Panic, what me? On my previous running sessions my Powercab has performed faultlessly. But, today nothing, I checked all the connections, the three pin socket was live, and well. I searched for a fuse, none present . Would some kind Modeller please tell me what could be wrong???  Best wishes Kevin

Don' panic and try the NCE forum Kevin, as your membership would have been confirmed by now.
Good luck,

Bill

Hi Bill. Thank you for your reply. But, it was my fault. I have an early? Powercab with a strange adaptor, that no one can remember seeing previously. The mains lead doesn’t plug in to the PCP directly, but via an adaptor. When I emailed a photo of it to DCC Concepts, even they didn’t recognise it . For my convenience I cobbled together the two plugs  one at each end of a cable, to bridge the gap in lieu of the original adaptor and it was a broken wire on that short cable that caused the problem.  Best wishes Kevin

Hmm, if it was me, I'd simply replace the plug with the correct UK one, then no worries. I've done just that in reverse with several UK power tools I use regularly here in France.

If you don't fancy doing it yourself, the local Citizen's Advice Bureau should be able to find a friendly electrician for you, or may even be able to access a suitable charitable, or Local Authority initiative who can assist.

Best play safe, but I'm glad you found the fault.

Bill

Hi Bill. Thank you again. But it isn’t at the 13 amp end, it is at the PCP end, after the mains current has been transformed .   Best wishes Kevin

Ah, sorry Kevin and in that case,, it sounds like a question for International Rescue, aka the NEC members group.

 Cheers,

Bill

Kevin

Can you email me photos of both ends of the mains cable you are using?  You've lost me a little with talk about adapters, mains plugs, etc. so seeing what you are talking about would help greatly.  As someone who used to retail NCE in the UK I don't ever remember seeing a separate connection to plug into the PCP from the supplied mains input other than that supplied in the box.

John
