Dean Goods in trouble

Well I've made more progress on Ottersford in the last four weeks than over the last four years & I'll post an update soon.
To cheer myself up I unpacked my Oxford Rail Dean Goods that I've had for some time.  What a beut!  Well detailed & ran like a dream.  Heartened, I thought I'd unpack my SECR 'H' class.  Put it on the programming track then realised after I pressed read that the ESU was set for 'programme on main'. Luckily only the Dean Goods & a 44XX were on track & both became 'H' class!  The 44XX has a Locksound V4 & that re-programmed no problem.

When I tried to re-programme the Dean Goods it said 'no loco on track'.  Tried again & it said:

Generic NMRA - Electronic Solutions
Protocol DCC128
Address 144
Sniffer Address 144

The loco made some clicks as if something was happening but nothing works.

I've emailed Hattons (where I bought it) & Oxford Rail to see if they can tell me what chip is fitted (I bought it DCC Sound fitted) & what the settings should be but neither have responded.

Anyone more DCC savvy than me any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Mal

I bought the OR Dean Goods with DCC Sound installed and mine has the ESU Loksound v5 chip. I'm puzzled why simply resetting some CVs to those for a different loco's values should create a problem for the chip to make it unreadable, something else may have happened? Have you tried searching the internet in case it's been reported, surely not the first time someone's done this?

seehttps://dccwiki.com/Programming_Track

which outlines some issues with using Programming on the Main which may be applicable to your situation.

Then, contact Hattons and tell them the chip appears faulty after your attempt to change CVs. Given high costs of returning a loco from here in Oz (probably same for you there), I eventually got acceptance from OR that return of my faulty chip and speaker alone would suffice. Mine was a different problem relating to a speaker short which blew the processor.

Checking back that whole sorry affair was over 2 years ago now.

Good luck.

PS DCC settings are in the product leaflet in the box.

Hi Colin.  Yes I bought mine in May 2018 (how time flies!) but only just unpacked it.
I'm surprised Hattons haven't responded they are usually pretty good.  I didn't get a product leaflet in the box that I thought strange & why I don't know what chip is fitted.

If yours has a Locksound v5 it's likely mine is the same so it's odd the ESU controller isn't picking it up.

Did you buy yours from Hattons or direct from O.R.?  It's not just the cost of shipping from here but the time - we got a letter from the UK the other day postmarked March!

Anyway thanks for your reply - I'll try telling the ESU it's a v5 chip & see what happens.

Hi,

I've just emailed you scans of the Sound and Maintenance Data sheets,
