Head scratching time, no movement?

Hi All.  I thought that I would have a quick shunt on my puzzle plank. Plug in the Powercab , Loco on track, enter code and away we go? Away we go? Nothing, clean the rails, still nothing, then the light came on? Not on the track, but that maybe an idea? The track in question, why the programme track, of course. The DPDT centre off toggle switch, was set for the "Programme Track" . it is not so clear as a DPDT slide switch for the centre off position when one is half asleep. Could there be a positive way of indicating the switch position ??   All the best. Kevin

You could simply stick two labels on the mounting panel Kevin - e.g "P" for "Programme" and "N" for "Normal".

The same idea as "ON" and "OFF".   Then, whenever you use that section of track, you push the switch in the correct direction before trying any locos…………………

Hi Petermac.  Thank you for your reply. The thing about this toggle switch is, unlike other toggle switches that I have used, the amount of movement is insignificant .  All the best. Kevin

The amount of movement is immaterial Kevin - just as long as you push it the right way before running/programming an engine.

Sol is in the usergroup ‘Super-moderators’
you can use a 3PDT toggle with two poles for the DCC wiring and the third pole to switch LEDs
this has a 4PDT as an example

HI Kevin

NCE make an automatic switch for this specific purpose ( number 524-226).

DCC concepts  ( now in the U/K ) have information .

You might also like to have a look at Mark Guirries web site

Hi Ted.  Thank you for your reply. When I saw a video on the subject, the bloke doing the video suggested using the DPDT centre off switch was " a cheaper alternative ", and me being a bit tight I went along with the idea . And now it is in position, I don't want to spoil the woodwork. All the best. Kevin
