Basic accessory decoders

Hi,

I use a very basic DCC system, a MultiMaus, just bought a second system to drive the tiny micro layout https://chapeltramway.blogspot.com/ with just two basic Peco solenoid motors and one tiny loco.

In the distant past I used Roco’s 10775 accessory decoder but it is an expensive overkill for just two turnouts. However I faintly remember that you could buy individual accessory decoders for single turnouts, possibly a Maerklin product but that was 20+ years ago.

What is the most cost effective solution to drive just two turnouts using the MultiMaus? I can’t seem to find anyone offering simple accessory DCC decoders.

Sorry if this sounds like a throwback query but I am trying to keep down costs for a very basic system.

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

Using decoders for switch motors? Depends on whether they are stall or capacitor driven solenoid motors and how many you want to control. Closest to you physically are probably the DCCConcepts solenoid drivers - CDU built in, control between 2-8 switches (2, 4 or 8 depending on the model). They also have decoders for stall motors.

My personal choice would be NCE accessory decoders if I was going that route. My preference is for WIT.

Will any DCC system drive any make of accessory decoder or do they have to be from the same manufacturer ?  I realise each will control any make of loco decoder but is it the same for accessory decoders ?

The Roco Multimaus is NMRA compliant, so it should work with any decoder that is also NMRA compliant.
