shuttle unit timing adjust

What I want to do is make the train wait longer on my Mr Rails DC shuttle

I have one of these DC shuttle units which has the two diodes either end and a trimmer for the timing adjust on the circuit board, however I have only a very short 2ft end to end run on my 009 track which I use this unit, I need to get a longer wait at both ends on a slow speed (loco is a Kato 103 chassis) at the moment the trimmer is as far set for long wait as it can go and it only waits about 10 seconds I am wondering if I change the value of the 15k resistor on the board to a lower value? opposite to this mod below say 10k for a longer wait?????

On the Mr Rails web it says
"IN GENERAL THE TIME SPAN WE HAVE ALLOWED IS FOR A REASONABLE DISTENCE IF YOU HAVE A LONG SHUTTLE AND THE LOCO NEVER REACHES  EACH END BEFORE ITS TIME TO RETURN AND YOU HAVE TURNED THE SPEED DOWN THEN A CHANGE IN VALUE TO THE 15K RESISTOR COLOURED BROWN GREEN ORANGE WILL NEED TO BE INCREASED TO A 22 K RESISTOR  OR A 33K RESISTOR  THIS WILL DOUBLE THE TIME TAKEN TO TRAVEL TO EACH END"

any ideas

thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

Increase not decrease the R on the board. This looks like a capacitor driven transistor trip circuit. Decreasing the voltage to the Ts should increase the time to when they trip (which is what the pot does with the current allowed by the as supplied R). The relay then flips the current to the diodes. (Caveat here - I came late to electronics, wiser heads may know better). From the website the more expensive model looks a lot better for what you want to do.

I have a 33k resistor in the box so I will give that a go and report back

Thanks Mike

33k fitted and not made a great deal of difference hmmmmmmmmmmm scratches head  :hmm
