Solder Glue.

Just spotted this on E Bay.

Just think ( droppers attached and no soldering ).

Has anyone tried it ?

I have put a bid in so lets see what happens.

Hi John,

Just had a quick look at this product as it appears very handy indeed.

The only question that I have which does not seem to have been mentioned ( unless I've missed it ) is how long it takes to dry. I can't find reference to that on the advert.

If it dries on contact, it could be very popular stuff indeed.

I' ll keep my eye on this one

Cheers

Toto

The pic of this product does look dodgy… No schedule label (ie, Keep Out Of Reach of Children), no active constituent, no manufacturer information, no Hazard Identification, no MSDS, not to mention that it is 'available' on ebay… Unlike this product that hides nothing :

That does look useful John.
Hmm I wonder how strong it is?
Thinking copperclad points without solder blobs?
Maybe its a form of metal glue that has been liquified?
To be effective it would have to cure quickly.

regards,

Derek

I've just googled it and what appears to be the same product, is available on uk ebay.It mentions curing overnight so no instant bond then.

Soldering wires is not that hard to do.  Countless little Chinese girls do it every day and then export the results to us!

As Terry said (well, the first bit anyway).  I'm sure this has applications, but I wait to be convinced of a viable alternative to soldering wire to rail.

Maybe similar to conductive epoxy (silver flakes embedded) that I encountered in my days of trying to get aircraft harnesses to work reliably.

G`day Folks,
Interesting idea????…….but I still like the idea of melting metal to make a connection with integrity. Do it once ,in a couple of seconds, and forget about it , hopefully safe in the knowledge that it worked.!!!…..call me old fashioned but I would need to be convinced about this glue product.

Question:
If this does work, then why is he advertising an all singing, all dancing Soldering Iron Kit plus accessories at the bottom of the advert ????????

To Gormo:
Have to agree with you mate, Soldering might be old school but it works and has worked for eons, so like you sticking to proven methods.

I am just about to connect a series of platform lampposts, they came with a pair of  very thin wires attached ) which have to be pushed through to the underside of the layout ,(platforms are fixed down) .   So i have ordered this product ,if it works it will be ideal for this situation.   I ordered it today from creative audio technology (cat) and will report how i get on with it.:thumbs

I wonder if it could be used for repairing and attaching things to white metal figures, providing a stronger bond?

Some of the replies in this thread are dated 2013- promising to report back- and then nothing.
My experience is that this is a sort of 'balsa' cement with aluminium or other metal particles mixed in. Measurement of resistance of dried 'solder cement' show its conductive — errr — just, and is unlikely to carry even a few mA. It may be fine for LCD uA currents but I cant find any use for this very expensive coloured glue- unless someone knows a brand that does work?
In the Ebay link of the first post , it shows claimed "working" LED circuits- which could just be wires twisted together with a dab of 'solder' just to hold the joint mechaincally, which a dab of two part epoxy would probably suffice just as well.
Anyone?
